It’s that blissful month where life centers around blankets on the grass at Spreckels Park, golden-hour food truck bites along the bay, and soaking up every last bit of outdoor magic. Whether you are a local maxing out your summer rhythm or looking for the absolute best things to do in San Diego this AUGUST, this lineup delivers pure coastal perfection.

One of the most thrilling outdoor Coronado Island events of the year! Join thousands of cyclists for a scenic, non-competitive ride across the San Diego-Coronado Bay Bridge (the only time pedal power is allowed on the bridge!) and around the entire 25-mile Bayshore Bikeway loop.

Sharp Hospital Regatta

Watch the bay light up with vibrant sails! This beloved annual sailing race brings gorgeous boats to the water for a competitive, high-seas spectacle that double-functions as a fundraiser for healthcare.

The Ferry Landing Strategy: If you're coming over from downtown San Diego for Bike the Bay or a weekend concert, skip the bridge traffic altogether! Hop on the Coronado Ferry from the Broadway Pier. You can bring your bike directly onto the ferry for free, step off right at the Ferry Landing, catch a live waterfront performance, and cruise down the Bayshore Bikeway stress-free.
